What does a Colorado wedding venue really cost?
A rental price is a useful starting point. It is rarely the whole bill or the whole experience. Compare written proposals for the same date, guest count, hours, food, bar, lodging and weather plan; then decide which setting fits your people.
Start with the right unit.
Some venues quote a room. Others quote a ceremony and reception package, a minimum food purchase or an entire weekend. Comparing those figures as though they were the same product will give the wrong answer.
| Published example | What the number buys | What remains |
|---|---|---|
| Spruce Mountain Ranch: $10,750 | Peak Saturday rental, 11 hours | Catering, bar and other vendors |
| Chatfield Farms: $10,600 | 2026 full-day Barn Package plus Open Air Chapel | Approved caterer, bar and other vendors |
| Sanctuary: $32,000 before fees | 2026 peak Saturday Clubhouse fee plus required food and beverage minimum | 25% food/bar service charge, 4% tax and other costs |
| Deer Creek Valley Ranch: $36,300 | 100 guest Saturday package with dinner, five-hour bar, DJ, florals and coordination; venue says tax and fees included | Optional lodging, photography and other personal costs |
Use a consistent quote request.
Ask for a peak Saturday ceremony and reception for 100 guests, with a staffed dinner, four-hour hosted bar, standard furniture and tableware, a weather backup and enough access for setup and cleanup. Request every line item: venue, ceremony, food, bar, minimum shortfall, staff, planner, security, rentals, service fee, administrative fee, tax, insurance and lodging. Keep refundable deposits separate from cost.
Watch the guest count.
Bear Dance’s 2026 wedding reception packet lists a $3,500 peak room fee, but its seated capacity is 96 and it no longer offers an outdoor ceremony site. That makes it a reception option for smaller groups, not a 100 guest ceremony and reception comparison.
Black Forest by Wedgewood’s 2026 price guide lists a September or October Saturday venue fee of $4,995, ceremony fee of $1,495 and Build Your Own package from $64 per guest. For 100 guests, those lines plus its 22% administrative fee total approximately $15,726 before tax, selections and minimums. It is a starting calculation, not a complete hosted bar guarantee.
The total cost of the experience.
A useful comparison adds the costs the couple will actually pay: venue and ceremony, food, bar, service charges, taxes, vendors, rentals, transportation, lodging, and any welcome or next-day gathering. Then list the value that matters but is not a line item: privacy, time together, ease for guests, the setting and whether the property feels like yours.
For example, Sage & Silo Farm describes two farmhouse stays and private weekend buyouts. On-site lodging might replace some separate room or transport arrangements for a small group, but that is a question to test against a written package, not an assumed saving. Its public event page does not show a wedding rate or capacity.
What to do next.
Use the budget planner for a first-pass range, then request dated proposals. For Larkspur options, review the local venue guide. Prices were checked 30 October 2026 and may change. Explore intimate wedding weekends if time and privacy matter as much as the room price.
